Your first client consultation has arrived. A successful consultation is about building trust, not fixing everything in one session.
Phase 1: Before You Arrive
Send a prep email with arrival time, treat requests, and a short questionnaire.
Phase 2: Arrival & Greeting
Arrive calmly, toss treats from a distance, let the dog approach you. Do not crowd the dog.
Phase 3: The Interview
Ask open-ended questions. Listen more than you talk.
Phase 4: Observation
Watch the dog in their normal routine without intervening.
Phase 5: One Small Win
Teach one behavior only. Hand targeting, name recognition, or a treat scatter.
Phase 6: Take-Home Plan
One page: one management change, one exercise, one observation task.
The Golden Rule
Leave the owner feeling capable, not corrected.
